OSHA Mandatory Written Safety Plans & OSHA Compliance
Taking a structured approach to Safety & OSHA Compliance is the best way to ensure your safety program is effective.
Per OSHA the following standards are required written safety plan or procedures: 18 for general industry and 10 written construction safety plan requirements for the construction industry. There are also requirements for written safety procedures for 16 hazardous substances listed under Subpart Z of the general industry rules for Toxic and Hazardous Substances, such as asbestos and vinyl chloride.
OSHA requires that all written safety plans cover the minimum below, plus trade and task specific safety procedures in relation to OSHA standards. In many cases a generic Safety Plan does not cover all of your employees tasks. This would leave you and your employees at risk with being OSHA Compliant. We also find that many employeers do not update their written safety plans often. As a rule, your safety plan should have some additions as the work and exposure to other trades on various jobsites are different. Written Safety Plans are Trade, Company and Jobsite Specific. Be certain that your written safety plan is fully OSHA Compliant.
